Port Melbourne Baseball Club

Men's Program 2017/18 Summer Season

Head Coach - Tim O'Meara

Reserves Coach - Tim O'Meara

Thirds Coach - Darren Bradley & Dale Bradley

Over recent weeks our clubs Senior Baseball Operations Committee have discussed ways to formulate an improved culture and playing environment.

Whilst onfield results have significantly improved from last year, we feel there are still a number of key areas we can improve in.

Hence, we have identified 3 key areas that our club needs to address & focus on immediately.

The three areas we have identified are:

  1.  Training Structure.

Gurcan Tiknaz has been appointed Training Co-Ordinator.

Darren Bradley has been appointed Pitching / Throwing coach

Cameron Snyder has been appointed Hitting coach.

Tim will continue to formalise the layout and content of training sessions.

He will then delegate the particular skills sessions to the applicable coaches.

The individual coaches will work to a schedule outlined by head coach Tim Omeara at all times.

  1. Team Selection Criteria.

Team selection going forward will be based upon the following criteria and in the following order:

  1. Attitude / Punctuality – a positive, upbeat demeanour, hustle and team focussed approach is what is required at both training, and on match day. And being on time !

  1. Training – attendance at training is important. Choosing not to train could have a  detrimental effect to which team you are selected in.

1sts and 2nds team members who are unable to make training are to notify Tim or Gurcan.  3rds team members to notify Darren Bradley.

  1. Performance / Ability / Talent / Potential – match day performances will not be a major determination of the team you are selected in.  Yes, it will be a consideration but not a sole indicator. Your efforts in a) and b) will be major factors.

  1. Junior Development.

The club is on the look out for a Junior Development Coach.

Our junior program is of the utmost importance if we are to continue playing in Division 2 and strive for higher levels.

The appointed person will work closely with head coach Tim O’Meara to harness a more focussed approach to developing our young talent.

We have a number of candidates we are looking to speak with.

If you have any interest in this role please speak with head coach Tim O’Meara.

Please feel free to discuss with Tim, Darren, George or Gurcan if you have any questions regarding any of the above.
